The Sunrise Entrepreneur
Good Morning! I am writing to you today from sunny Alabama and am speaking directly to women who are in business for themselves, or are considering starting a home-based business. I find no other joy in business greater than being awake before everyone and getting my day organized. When the day is new, so are you! Consider the possibilities of preparing your day a little bit earlier to achieve maximum results in business.
- Starting the amazing morning in prayer or meditation provides a peaceful balance throughout the day.
- Taking time to make your “Gratitude List” each morning allows you to see the good things in life.
- Having a nutritious meal before 7 am allows your body to wake up and start it’s work day too.
- Journaling your business objectives and reviewing the days tasks including phone calls or appointments, gives you CONTROL over your work day.
So many people see “sleeping in” as a reward, but if you choose this option while you are just getting started with a home-based business, you may very well short change your business out of profit. There are many benefits of waking early other than those bulletized items above. Think about a day when you woke up in chaos. How did you feel the entire day?
When you awaken and you are in control of your day, the day flows as you have decided it will. While it’s understandable that there are times when sleep is needed to compensate for sleep lost, it’s also possible that a plan can be created so that you are in bed at a decent time so that waking early is easy for you.
Each morning I wake up at 5:00 am. I have two sons and a grandaby that live here in the home with me. When I am up at 5:00 am the birds are just now starting to sing. I get to enjoy their song… I start my coffee and slip to the back porch to watch the sun rise. To prepare my mind for work, I journal out my top 5 objectives for the day.
Venturing back into the house to fill my cup, I say “My Cup Runneth Over with Blessings”. By saying this to myself, I am giving thanks for the blessings in my life. I try very hard to sip the coffee and embrace the essence of the flavor… Returning to my office, I open up my email program and respond to emails from the prior evening. Doing this in the morning, gives me an edge. The edge is that my customers most likely is not up yet and won’t immediately require additional interaction.
I have about 2 full hours of morning time before my sons wake up. They are homeschooled so their school starts at 8:00. I love working from home and being able to see them grow and learn. Because having a home-based business is my life dream, it’s important to me that there is a great balance between work and relaxation.
If you are ready to be a work at home parent, remember that early to rise makes you wise!
