With the recession hitting the household income hard either with a reduced income, loss of employment or by the sheer hike in prices people are becoming far more open-minded about employment or income possibilities. However, there is an enormous amount of advertising about working from home, part-time, flexible hours and it can be a real mine field.
Network marketing is simply a way of getting products to a customer using a distributor (a person who wants to earn money by selling or recommending products to a customer) – there is nothing illegal about it, just good and bad companies. In order to earn more money (can be quite substantial) distributors can encourage others to become distributors and become part of their team (again, nothing illegal about this).
Often this concept gets mistaken for pyramid selling. A pyramid scheme is a non-sustainable business model that promises participants payment for enrolling other people into the scheme, rather than from any real investment or sale of products or services to the public. Pyramid schemes are a form of fraud. THIS IS NOT NETWORK MARKETING. Network marketing companies have a product or service to sell – everyone buys at wholesale for the same price directly from the company.
Good network marketing companies are those with a really good marketing plan, fantastic product and a small initial investment (often a starter pack that enables you to try, use, see or sell – how could you sell a product you had not tried?). If there is a huge start-up cost – be suspicious.
You need to check out the training and support that will be given once you start-up. Whoever introduced you is responsible for your training and support and if you don’t like them or if they are not very active, think again. A good network marketing company does not sell its products in shops as it reduces the sales ability of the distributors and if the product or service is sold online it should only be available from the company online shop otherwise distributors will try to sell it at a reduced price and try to gain a greater market share. People will buy where it’s cheapest.
Network marketing can be a very powerful way to make money from home, flexibly, full or part-time often suiting mum’s with children at home, people who work part-time, looking for an extra income, supplement their pension, unemployed, etc. However, be sure to pick the right one for you, check how long it has been trading, sales history, training and support and most importantly it’s product.
